CNC Studio Furniture Collection

Fall 2020 • RIT Furniture Design Masters

A series of iterative CNC plywood studio furniture partially inspired by the work of Tom Sachs

All five pieces take structural and aesthetic design inspiration from the aerospace industry by creating cavities within each piece that reduce weight while not inhibiting the structural integrity of the piece. To create additional structural rigidity between each segment within a piece, interlocking joints were incorporated into the 3D model before the CNC process. As this collection is my first jaunt into the world of CNC furniture fabrication, these pieces are a raw, stage one design iteration in what will be a lifelong pursuit of customized studio furniture.
